As you can see, I’ve been reblogging a lot of fitness posts. The reason behind that because last monday I officially started my bikini body program that was put out by muffintop-less and so far it’s been great! I’ve been educating myself on health, fitness and clean eating through the internet and my friends who are active in their fitness and health.

The reason I chose to do this was because I’ve been seeing my family history of health problems and I chose not to go down that path. Even at a young age, I feel that the time is NOW in which I should start taking care of my body.

It’s been an amazing journey so far and I know this is something I am committing to long term! So I created a linked tumblr which is my fitness tumblr. It is called cleaneatings ( might change the name a couple of times haha ). Here I’ll be posting recipes and workouts as a personal reference for myself, but also motivating quotes, pictures, and also my own progress as well! I will still be posting on my regular tumblr but majority of my fitness posts ( at least recipes, facts, and workouts ) will be on the other one.

There is a lot of debate about the optimal time to do cardio, as well as what you should and shouldn’t eat beforehand. I just read this short article and wanted to share. I personally prefer to get my cardio out of the way in the morning, so I usually do low intensity on an empty stomach. =)

That’s the big question regarding your morning cardio. Fortunately, science has your back. A recent study examined the effects of meal timing on the amount of fat and carbohydrates burned during not only exercise but also the two hours following the workout. The researchers split subjects into two groups — one that abstained from eating before cardio and one that ate preworkout — and found that the fasting group burned significantly more fat than the satiated group. This reaffirms the common belief that doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach is the best combination for fat-burning.

Yet if you just can’t go without eating before you train, there’s hope. The group that ate before doing cardio burned significantly more fat two hours after the exercise session; although the fasting group was the more efficient overall fat-burner.

Take-Home Tip: If you can do your cardio on an empty stomach, you’ll get a fat-burning edge. Otherwise, you’ll still burn fat, just not as efficiently.”

My Tips for Finding Cute/Inexpensive Workout Clothes!

Shop the clearance aisle first - Often times there are some REALLY cute finds in the clearance department. You might have to spend a little extra time digging, but when you find a gem, it will all have been worth it!

Opt for non-name brands - Just because it’s not Nike or Lululemon doesn’t mean it isn’t a great product! All the fold-over shorts you see in my pictures? They’re not Victoria’s Secret.. in fact, they were $4 each from Body Basics.

Don’t write off cotton! - Just because it’s not a lycra fabric doesn’t mean it can’t be used to work out in! I buy tank tops from places like Forever 21 all the time that are comfortable to move around in. Cotton breathes well and is fairly inexpensive depending where you shop!

Target jedi mind trick… this picture was from my trip today. I swear I go there for ONE thing and wind up taking the entire store home with me! (At least the black workout tank was on sale!) I’m not the only one this happens to I hope lol?
